(1) What is Earth Science? PowerPoint

(2) Find Branches in Newspaper Activity
Show the PowerPoint. Walk them through it. They are filling it out with your guidance while watching the PPT. Assign an activity where they find an article about one of the four Branches in a newspaper, magazine or online news source. Answer some questions about the article!

(3) Branches of Earth Science Team Game

(4) Work on Newspaper Activity
Make a fun team game. e team a few photos of each branch in an envelope along with word cards for the four branches. On teacher signal, they open the envelope and arrange the the photos into four branches. Fun way to review what they've learned about the branches. Allow some class time to find articles in the newspapers and magazines you've supplied or students have brought to class. They could also use the computer! You get lots extra if you offer bonus points for bringing in newspapers!

(5) Cut & Paste Activity Earth Science Matching Activity

This is a great activity! I saw 100% involvement, even from my reluctant learners. Very fun time for you to walk around the room chatting with your students, helping them along with this assignment.

(6) What is Earth Science? Worksheet

A great non-threatening way to do this: Assign the work in pairs. Hand in when done as a pair, and move on to working on the Newspaper Assignment.

(7) Branches of Earth Science Quiz
During the Quiz, I’d give the class a quiet seatwork assignment. Then have about 6 kids get up and walk around the room looking at the photos you've posted, filling out a quiz page. I would walk around too, stressing quiet and not allowing any quizzers to get too close to each other.
